STEAMI Robotics Project

First Lego League Robotics for All

The STEAMI Robotics Project gives children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, the chance to explore the exciting world of robotics, coding, and teamwork.

We run First Lego League teams where at least half of every team is made up of sponsored children who would not otherwise have access to this opportunity.

These children not only learn robotics but also develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration skills that open doors to future careers in science and technology.

By bringing robotics to every child, regardless of their circumstances, we are inspiring a new generation of innovators and creators.

How This Project Changes Lives

Access to Innovation

Bringing robotics and technology to children who would otherwise never experience it.

Skills for the Future

Teaching coding, critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork—essential skills for tomorrow’s jobs.

Building Confidence

Empowering children to believe in their potential and explore new possibilities.

Inclusion & Opportunity

Ensuring every child, regardless of background, has a chance to participate, learn, and compete.

How First Lego League Robotics Works

First Lego League (FLL) is an international robotics program that introduces children to science, technology, engineering, and innovation in a fun, hands-on way.

Working in teams of six, children build and program Lego-based robots to complete specific missions on a themed playing field. Alongside the robotics challenge, they also research a real-world problem and develop an innovative solution - building both technical and creative thinking skills.

The program focuses on teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking, and presentation skills. Children learn to work together, overcome challenges, and celebrate discovery - all while having fun.

At HerEmpire Collective, we make sure that children from all backgrounds can be part of this inspiring journey by sponsoring spots on each team. This ensures inclusivity, exposure to technology, and the chance to dream bigger.

First Lego League:
From Regional Matches to Global Championships

Regional and Local Tournaments

Each year begins with local or regional FLL events—hosted in schools, community centres, or university venues—where teams of six put their robots to the test on a themed mission board, present their research projects, and demonstrate teamwork skills.

Open & International Championships

Top teams may be selected for Open Championships—held annually in regions like Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, or Africa—as an inclusive stepping stone to global competition.

National and Championships

High-performing regional teams advance to national championships. Here, they compete against wider competition and face more rigorous judging in robot design, core values, performance, and research.

FLL World Festival (Global)

The pinnacle of the FLL Challenge! Teams that win national/state titles—or receive special nominations—advance to the World Festival, part of the FIRST Championship in Houston (and Detroit in earlier years). Here they showcase their innovations alongside hundreds of teams from around the world, vying for top awards in robot performance, research, design, and core values.

How You Can Help:

You can sponsor a child to join a robotics team, help fund equipment, or support the ongoing costs of running the program.

Every contribution ensures that no child is left behind in this fast-moving digital world.

Even by attending events, volunteering, or spreading the word, you’re helping us bring technology and opportunity to more young minds.
